John Turenne is the president and founder of Sustainable Food Systems, a consulting company that helps institutions consider social, ecological, healthy and delicious differences in their business through the way they serve food. His professional career has consisted of more than 35 years in the food industry with Aramark including as Executive Chef at Yale University, where he designed, developed and implemented the internationally recognized Yale Sustainable Food Project. He has contributed to the book Sustainability in the Food Industry and been featured in the film Two Angry Moms and the ABC television series Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. John was recruited to assist the White House on the creation of Chefs Move to Schools program. He currently serves as president of the Connecticut Chapter of the Northeast Organic Farming Association.
