Make a Donation to Support New England Farm to School

Please join our Barnraiser campaign to send New England delegates to the 8th National Farm to Cafeteria Conference in June 2016

We've partnered up with the National Farm to School Network and Barnraiser to raise money to send scholarship recipients from New England to the 8th National Farm to Cafeteria Conference on June 2-4, 2016 in Madison, Wisconsin. Will you help us make it possible to send New England farm to school advocates and practitioners from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont to the top national farm to school training and networking event?

The National Farm to Cafeteria Conference is designed for professionals who are working to improve community health, build economic opportunities for farmers and ensure long-term sustainability for local food efforts nationwide. This event will convene more than 1,500 diverse stakeholders working to source local food for institutional cafeterias and foster a culture of food and agricultural literacy across America. Cafeterias in schools and early care, colleges and universities, hospitals, prisons and other institutional settings serve tens of millions of Americans every day, placing the farm to cafeteria movement at the forefront of the fight to end obesity and strengthen local food systems.

Why is it important that the New England farm to school leaders are represented?

The New England states have long been recognized as national leaders in the farm to school movement. Many programs initiated in New England have been replicated elsewhere. Sending emerging leaders to the national conference helps keep our programs on the cutting edge, ensuring that our children, teachers, food service professionals and community advocates learn from others around the country, and continue to share our new lessons.

The National Farm to Cafeteria Conference is the only national gathering of stakeholders from across the farm to cafeteria movement, making it a crucial leadership development opportunity for our network. At the conference, we will learn best practices, network with likeminded communities and bring home creative solutions to continue our work to nourish people and the economy.

How you can support our work

Help us send a strong delegation of farm to school leaders from our community to the 8th National Farm to Cafeteria Conference to bring back real food solutions to New England. Your support is needed to cover registration and travel costs to facilitate participation at the conference so that we can continue to accelerate the growth of farm to school.

Conference scholarships cost $475 (base registration) and $550 (base registration plus short course/field trip). If we raise $6,000, we can send two delegates from each New England state to the conference in June. For every additional $500 raised, we can send another farm to school leader and expand our capacity to improve community health and economic opportunities in New England.
