Peter has worked with FINE since 2011, joining the initial organizing partners to promote a robust farm to institution network in New England. He brings over 30 years of project and program management experience in a wide array of non-profit, government and business settings. He got his start in FTI work i by responding to an ad for a part-time farm to school coordinator in Hartland, Vermont in 2007. He felt that Farm to School would be a great way to connect with his kid's school and the Cobb Hill farm and co-housing community where he had recently moved. He quickly got hooked and applied his organizing experience and interests by founding the Upper Valley Farm to School Network in 2008, to support existing and emerging farm to school programs in the Upper Valley Region of Vermont and New Hampshire. In the summer of 2014 he handed off the reigns of UVFTS to Vital Communities, a partner non-profit in the Upper Valley. Peter sits on the Network Leadership team of Food Solutions New England, and advisory committees of the Vermont and New Hampshire Farm to School Programs, as well as the Valley Food and Farm program of Vital Communities. Prior experience includes serving as Branch Chief for Commercial Waste Reduction for the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, Senior Consultant for Eco-Logical Solutions, Inc., an innovative environmental consulting firm serving the hospitality industry, Special Project Coordinator at the Tufts Center for Environmental Management on their college and university environmental initiatives, and Political Director for the League of Conservation Voters in New Jersey. During non-office time he enjoys an array of outdoor activities including pedaling his bike around the Upper Valley and occasionally moonlights as a bicycle tour guide. Peter has a BA in Philosophy from Drew University, and an MA in Urban and Environmental Policy from Tufts University.
